WASHINGTON, DC - (July 13, 2006) Lawyers for plaintiffs holding American Depository Receipts (ADRs) in YUKOS today announced that a Netherlands court has allowed them to attach Rosneft's shares in West Kamchatka Holding BV.
"We will continue to identify and attach Rosneft assets outside Russia," said Thomas Johnson, attorney for the plaintiffs.
"Should the plaintiffs obtain a favorable judgment against Rosneft in this litigation, we will satisfy that judgment from the shares we have just attached and from any other Rosneft assets we are able to attach," Johnson added.
Rosneft owns 60 percent of West Kamchatka Holding BV., a Dutch energy company focused on oil and gas development in the Sea of Okhotsk's West Kamchatka Shelf.
In October 2005, twelve American plaintiffs filed suit against Rosneft, in United States District Court in Washington, DC alleging that Rosneft, the Russian government, other Russian energy companies, and senior Russian officials and executives conspired to defraud them of their ownership stake in YUKOS. The case is Allen v. Russian Federation 1:05CV02077.
